Initial layout
Each player gets 3 face-down cards in front of them. On top of those, 3 face-up cards. Then 3 more cards into their hand. The remaining cards form the draw pile in the middle of the table.
2–3 players use 1 standard 52-card deck. 4+ players use 2 standard decks shuffled together.
Swap phase
Before play begins, you may swap any of your hand cards with any of your face-up cards. The face-up cards will be played later — so you want strong cards there. Once you're happy, click I'm ready.
Normal play
Play passes clockwise. On your turn, play one card (or several of the same rank) onto the discard pile. You must play a card equal to or higher than the current top card of the pile, unless a special rule applies.
After playing, draw back up to 3 cards in hand (while the draw pile lasts). If you can't play anything legal, pick up the entire pile into your hand.
Hand → face-up → face-down
Once your hand is empty and the draw pile is gone, play comes from your face-up cards. Once those are gone, you flip face-down cards blind. If a flipped card is illegal on the pile, you must pick up the pile and that revealed card joins your hand.
Special cards
- 2 — resets the pile. Next player can play anything.
- 3 — invisible/transparent. Treated as the value of the card below it.
- 7 — the next player must play a 7, a 2, a 3, or any card lower than 7.
- 10 — burns the pile. Discard pile is removed from play and the same player goes again.
Four of a kind burns
Four cards of the same rank played consecutively on the pile (across one or more turns) burn the pile. With 2 decks, extra copies don't matter — 4 in a row still triggers.
Win condition
You win as soon as you've played every card from your hand, face-up cards, and face-down cards. By default the game ends on the first winner. You can also play "until last loser" to find a single shithead.
